The Freebies are just that...free files to aid in the designing of web sites.
Some of them were created by me, while the majority of the posts in the "Freebies" category are large roundups of textures, brushes, and other useful files found by scouring the web.
These articles are the most popular with readers, and the easiest to put together.
If you question their popularity, google "photoshop textures" and look at the #2 spot.
Reputation
Design Reviver has a great reputation among other web design bloggers.
Smashing Magazine, the godfather of all web design blogs, often mentions Design Reviver.
So Why Sell?
I started this site when I went full time freelance as a way to get involved in the web design community.
Since then, my client base and work load have grown considerably, and I feel that my free time needs to be spent with my family instead working on Design Reviver.

At this point, all revenue is generated from ad sales.
The ads are a combination of

My current BSA advertisers have just renewed for their 3rd month.
The main text link ad under the post title has a 6 month commitment at $200/month.
With some experimentation and a little effort, ad revenue could probably be doubled.
