It is my absolute pleasure to share with you what I believe to be the most comprehensive set of Copywriting skills, strategies, and techniques in the world.
I’ll be sharing with you absolutely EVERYTHING I know about not only writing copy that sells like crazy, but also how to turn it into a business that makes you money!
7 Easy Steps To Writing Compelling Copy
Research/swipe
There are tons of ways you can research and swipe the best ideas from your competition.
The first thing you MUST do is identify your key competitors and subscribe to their mailing lists . This will ensure that you get sent all their promotional material. When you get something worth “swiping” simply copy and paste it into a word document and save the file!
If you’re writing a project for a client, you may not already have determined who the key competitors are in that market. The quickest and easiest way to find out is simply to ask your client who their main competitors are , but you can also use Google to find them. Then just find sales pages offering the same type of product/seminar/service that you’re writing for.
Get in state
If you’re sat in front of your computer feeling low on energy and generally pretty miserable, you’re hardly likely to produce an inspired piece of work are you?
So getting yourself in a productive state is *key* to writing compelling copy.
There are 2 main factors that determine our state... they are our PHYSIOLOGY (or how we are using our bodies) and our focus (in other words, how we are using our mind).
I find it useful to first of all get some oxygen into my body by breathing fully, sitting up straight, and focusing my mind on WHY it is I want to write a compelling piece of copy.
These questions might help:
• How will I feel when this piece of copy is getting OUTSTANDING results for me or my client?
• How much money could I potentially make as a result of doing a fantastic job?
• Who will benefit from this project being the best it could possibly be?
• How much money could I potentially make as a result of doing a fantastic job?
• Who will benefit from this project being the best it could possibly be?
Brainstorm
This is the time to get ALL your ideas out onto paper. Take out a pen and write the name of the product/seminar/service you’re writing about in the middle of a page, and then mind map all the ideas you have about how you can offer it in such a way that will get people queuing up to order!
I usually include ideas for headlines, the guarantee, pricing, images, layouts, bonuses, and pretty much anything else I might want to include.
Headlines
At this stage you want to write out somewhere between 5 and 10 headlines.
DO NOT TRY AND MAKE EACH ONE PERFECT!
You’ll probably never use a headline that you write at this stage, the main purpose of this step is to get “warmed up” and get your creative mind working!
The idea is that you’ll have 5-10 decent headlines that you can then play around with and create one *KILLER* headline. Of course whatever ideas you don’t use you can utilise later in the copy as sub-headlines.
First draft
Now you’ve got your creative juices flowing, it’s time to start writing the first draft of your copy. The best approach I find is to just blitz it from top to bottom in one sitting. This may not always be practical, especially if it’s a long piece for a high-ticket item, so you may need to break it up into 2 or 3 sessions. The key is to write it from top to bottom without editing – there’s plenty of time to do that later!
Break state
This is a crucial step that most copywriters don’t do.
Once you have your first draft completed – leave it alone! I suggest going out for a walk, listening to some music, play golf, do whatever it is that takes your mind completely off your work.
That way, you can come back with a clear, fresh mind, and be ready for the next, most important step of this whole process...
Edit/rewrite
The reason this is the most important step is that until now your copy is probably only a 6 or 7/10 – and that’s ok.
This is when you make it a 10!
The primary question you should be asking yourself throughout this step is:
“How can I make this 10 TIMES better?”
Read your copy once from top to bottom, making any grammatical/spelling changes. The best way to do this is to read it aloud, because then you can really pick out any sentences that don’t flow as well as they could.
Then, read it again from top to bottom, this time reformatting the piece using bold , italics , underlines , highlights, and *stars* to emphasise your most powerful points and make them JUMP off the page!
Finally, read it through one more time making any final tweaks and changes... and you’re done!
The Golden Rules For Writing Copy That Sells

5 Quick-and-Easy Shortcuts To Write Headlines
Guaranteed To Sell Like Crazy!
The headline is THE most important part of your copy. If your headline doesn’t grab your reader’s attention, they won’t read the rest of the copy and all your hard work is for nothing. In fact, research has shown that 80% of the success of your sales copy is based on the headline!
Your headline should contain as many of my ‘top 15 copywriting words’ as possible.

Then following your headline should be your sub-headline. This should give a bit more information than your headline. Not too much, but just enough to make them even more curious.
So here’s my secret 5 quick and easy shortcuts for writing a great headline:
1. Opening: It needs to be focused on the benefit to the reader – e.g. Now
You Can... or Discover How You Can...
2. State the benefit(s) – e.g. Earn £100,000 a year, Have More Time, Have
Smoother Looking Skin, etc.
3. Tell them when they can get the benefit – e.g. instantly, within the next 6
months, in 10 days etc
4. How will they get it? – e.g. using my proven system, the miracle formula,
etc.
5. Make it big and bold so it stands out, use 2 different colours and always
put the headline in “speechmarks”
