Team USA retain Junior Solheim Cup after Europe's dramatic fightback

Team USA survived a dramatic last-day surge from Team Europe to win the Junior Solheim Cup 13-11 at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands. Morgan Pressel's side had opened up a seven-point lead after the opening day, needing just 2.5 points from the 12 singles matches to retain the trophy. Europe, though, fought back hard, with Annabel Peaford stunning world No.1 Asterisk Talley with a 1up win despite being two holes down with four to play. The Americans seemed to be cruising after wins from Eliana Saga and Madeleine Conser, moving them to the brink of success. But inspired performances from Lauren Crump, Anna Ludvova, Lena Geier, Sofia Maier-Borst and Axelle Guillemard kept the pressure on. Kelly Zhang eventually sealed the winning point for the United States with a 2up victory over Carolina Perez-Tasso. Carlota Lopez Minguela and Alice Kong added further wins for Europe but it was not enough. Team Europe won the singles session 8.5-3.5 but could not overcome the deficit from the earlier matches. The result means the United States retained the Junior Solheim Cup in a memorable contest in the Netherlands.
